Continuing Education (CE)
It seems obvious that a doctor should regularly attend classes and study club meetings to maintain proficiency and educational updates. Technology and techniques are ever changing. In an endeavor to bring optimal treatment results to his patients, Dr. Hogan has made a significant commitment of time and resources to his continuing dental education (CE.) The state of Virginia requires that a doctor take only 15 hours of CE in any one calendar year. Dr. Hogan has doubled or tripled this requirement every year since 2003.
Doctor Hogan began his professional studies at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. There he attended both undergraduate university and dental college. At the school of dentistry, he served student council and the community while concurrently receiving clinical accolades and awards. He earned the Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) in May 2003. In July of that year, he served in the U.S. Navy for the next 3 years as a dentist. Lieutenant Hogan completed a hospital residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. His experience was focused in oral surgery to include dental implantology. In 2005 and 2006, he served as the only dentist aboard the USS Ashland where he provided quality and comprehensive dental care to sailors, Marines, and foreign military. Concurrent with his military service and when not deployed, Dr. Hogan honed skills in civilian dental care while practicing general dentistry in Chesapeake for 2 years. Dr. Hogan left military service and partnered with Dr. Baxter in June 2006. Adding to his professional education, Dr. Hogan completed a 1-year postgraduate program in dental implantology sponsored by the American Association of Implant Dentistry and the Medical College of Georgia. He is a general dentist who focuses much of his practice in dental implantology. He is accredited by the AAID and the ABOI, the two bona fide, worldwide authorities on dental implantology. Doctor Hogan has undergone extensive examination by national colleagues to earn the distinguished achievement of Diplomate, ABOI.
Dr. Hogan served in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Tidewater dental association. He is an officer and active participant in the Virginia Beach Dental Study Club and the Seaboard Dental Study Club. Dr. Hogan volunteers with the American Red Cross, Norfolk dental clinic. Living in Virginia Beach, Dr. Hogan enjoys playing ice-hockey, running, reading, the relaxing on the beach, wake-boarding and, above all, spending time with his three children.
